Door number 18 on Mill Bay opened on Wednesday 18th December at 6pm to reveal our Christmas surprise performance – South Kent Mind clients, staff & Cheritown Warblers singing Christmas carols accompanied by music tutors Mark and Simon on guitar and the Mind Drumming Workshop Group on drums. The performance also included a wonderful rendition of Silent Night on chime bars, performed beautifully. The event was particularly uplifting and atmospheric, beautifully lit and festively decorated, with thanks to our Wednesday Craft Group members, Wellbeing Activities Coordinator, Claire and Freelance Artist, Nikki.
Upon opening the door to invite the public in, the room flooded with people to watch the performance, many of whom joined in with the singing heartily. It was evident that the hard work put in by Mark’s Singing Workshop, Simon’s Drumming Workshop and Claire’s Craft Group leading up to the event really paid off. Small festive gifts were handed to people on leaving, a lovely touch to the evening. Abercrombie’s Cafe, next door to South Kent Mind Resource Centre, opened late with Elaine serving hot chocolate & mince pies to round the evening off.
With thanks to JimJam Arts for inviting us to participate, everyone who joined us on the evening, clients & Group Facilitators for their hard work in the weeks leading up to the event and to those who very kindly made donations on the evening and on the St. Peter’s Church and Market Square door openings.
We were delighted to be a part of JimJam Arts’ Living Advent Calendar 2019 where each night through Advent a different door in Folkestone opened to reveal a surprise performance for the public.
