Every year in May we celebrate mental health awareness week – it gives us a chance to raise awareness of mental health, to raise awareness of mental health challenges, and to connect with the people who live in our area and listen to them to find out how to reshape our services over the next 12 months.
Each year we organise a roadshow travelling to each of the towns in our area and hosting other local VCSE organisations who work within the mental health support sector. This approach provides a ‘one-stop shop’ where people can attend and find out the full breadth of mental health support services available to them.
For 2020, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, we had to take a different approach and so we took our Mental Health Awareness Week online and on the radio to try and connect with a broad subsection of our audience who are able to access social media.
For more information about our approach and the organisations with which we partnered, please see our project page for Mental Health Awareness Week 2020
