On 26th October South Kent Mind’s Interim CEO, Steve Inett, joined Shepway Sports Trust’s CE, Lawrence Hickmott, to receive a £6000 cheque from Folkestone Channel Rotary Club’s Malcolm Stewart and Joe Sullivan at Three Hills Sports Park. An absolutely fantastic amount raised via the popular Channel Triathlon event that took place on 13th September 2020 from Folkestone’s Harbour Arm.
In a period where demand is increasing and our funding sources are disappearing, this donation will be invaluable. Our team are working tirelessly to keep in touch with people who are isolated and have no access to the internet at home. For those who are online, we are expanding and developing our online courses and workshops to support people who are struggling with their mental wellbeing.
It’s even better that Shepway Sports Trust is also getting a donation as we work really closely with them to offer physical activities in a supportive space, as we know how beneficial this is on mental wellbeing.
To also have the money raised by such a successful triathlon in these difficult times is really impressive. We’re so grateful to everyone involved for thinking of us whilst undertaking all the work required to run the event.Steve Inett, Interim CEO, South Kent Mind
The Folkestone Channel Rotary Club work extremely hard to organise events such as this to support good causes. Sincere thanks to the Club for choosing to support South Kent Mind for Triathlon 2020 and to Event Coordinator Joe Sullivan and Team for their Herculean effort in managing to make the day a smooth-running success, despite COVID 19 complications and threat of cancellation.
Congratulations and well done to all triathletes and thank you to their supporters and sponsors.
Folkestone Channel Rotary is a group of 40 or so local people who provide charitable support and expertise. They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, during which time they’ve raised and donated approaching £1million to local, national and international good causes.
