Mental Health Helplines

Release the Pressure

Text the word Kent to 85258 or phone 0800 107 0160 for free confidential support at any time. You can also webchat with Mental Health Matters, an independent charity, who are available 24/7.

Free expert advice from trained counsellors is available for every mental health concern, including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • money worries
  • relationship troubles
  • stress
  • suicidal thoughts.

The Samaritans

Samaritans is a 24/7, confidential and non-judgemental emotional support service. You can talk to them anytime you like, and in your own way. They are here for anyone experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those thoughts which could lead to suicide or self-harm.

The Folkestone, Dover & Hythe Samaritans are situated on Cambridge Gardens near the centre of Folkestone. They are a part of the national Samaritans charity but also work closely with people and organisations within the local community to improve the mental health of those on our doorstep. They are usually open during the week for face-to-face Callers and will be publishing our opening hours again once the coronavirus pandemic is over.

Folkestone & Hythe District

Hestia offers a safe haven telephone service for residents of Folkestone and Hythe district who are experiencing a mental health crisis.

They are available from 6pm-11pm weekdays and 12pm-11pm and weekends

Mental Health Matters operate safe havens in Thanet and Canterbury that residents of Dover and Deal district can access:
