Training and workshops for organisations

Welcome to training with South Kent Mind

One in four of us will experience mental health problems at some point in our lives.  As we continue to live and work within a new and evolving landscape, here at South Kent Mind we are acutely aware that ensuring the positive mental health and wellbeing of ourselves and those around us at home and work is more important – yet more difficult – than ever.

We offer a varied and dynamic range of training opportunities and courses for individuals and businesses. Our courses will give you the tools and confidence you need to look after your own mental health and wellbeing, to support others and to respond in a helpful, supportive and non-stigmatising way.

We are constantly adapting and developing what we offer and we are able to deliver bespoke programmes, so if you would like to discuss a particular requirement, please email our Training and Development Team on contact@southkentmind.org.uk or call 01303 250090.

Training for organisations

Understanding stress and anxiety

Stress is our bodies’ natural response to excessive pressure or demands; anxiety is a reaction to the stress. When a natural response becomes problematic, the best thing we can do is understand more about it. Sessions are delivered to individual organisations providing a secure learning environment.

Key learning outcomes:

  • Causes and impact of stress
  • An insight into what is anxiety
  • Understand anxiety disorders and their impact
  • The benefits of supporting ourselves and others
  • Signposting to further support

Session length: 90 minutes.

Cost: £350 per organisation.

Delegates attending from organisation: Up to 20 people.

A half-day workshop (three hours) on understanding stress and anxiety goes into greater depth and introduces additional tips and strategies staff can use.

Additional learning outcomes:

  • An insight into how things can be turned around.
  • A guide to developing some strategies to help us manage stress and anxiety
  • Some practical tips to help us through.

Session length: Three hours.

Cost: £650 per organisation.

Delegates attending from organisation: Up to 20 people.

Understanding depression

We may all have times when our mood is low, or when we’re feeling sad. When these feelings don’t pass, it can have a huge impact on how we think, feel and function in every-day life. Sessions are delivered to individual organisations providing a secure learning environment.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • What is depression?
  • Recognising signs and symptoms
  • Understanding the impact of depression
  • How to support ourselves and others
  • Signposting to further support

Session length: 90 minutes.

Cost: £350 per organisation.

Delegates attending from organisation: Up to 20 people.

Mental health awareness

These mental health awareness workshops are designed to start conversations about mental ill health.  Employees who are experiencing mental illness will need workplace support from everyone. It is clear that it is more important than ever to ensure your organisation’s staff have the tools and support they need to manage mental health issues in the workplace. Sessions are delivered to individual organisations thereby providing a secure learning environment.

Key learning outcomes:

  • To gain insight into the more well-known mental illnesses
  • To learn how a person suffering from mental illness might feel
  • How to create an open discussion relating to mental illness and wellbeing
  • To consider how people suffering from mental illness might feel supported

Session length: 90 minutes.

Cost: £350 per organisation.

Delegates attending from organisation: Up to 20 people.

Introduction to workplace mental health and wellbeing

Fostering employee wellbeing is essential for both staff and the organisation. Promoting wellbeing can prevent stress and create a positive environment where individuals can thrive. Good mental health and wellbeing can be a core enabler of employee engagement and organisational performance.

Key learning outcomes:

  • To give delegates an understanding of the importance of mental wellbeing
  • To begin the process of learning what can be helpful in mental wellbeing
  • To introduce delegates to some of the ways we can look after ourselves for mental wellbeing
  • To empower by giving insight into helpful tips and techniques

Session length: 120 minutes.

Cost: £450 per organisation.

Delegates attending from organisation: Up to 20 people.

Mental health for managers

This workshop will help you look after yourself and also assist in spotting early warning signs should your staff be suffering from stress or anxiety. Employers have a duty of care towards their staff, but supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace can also reduce staff turnover and improve organisational performance. Leadership and management are key to promoting good mental health at work.

Key learning outcomes:

  • To outline the effects of Stress and Anxiety
  • To understand the impact on people as well as the organisation
  • Working with the style/purpose of the organisation to explore helpful ways of introducing wellbeing
  • To consider how ongoing wellbeing may be included for the workforce and workplace

Session length: Three hours.

Cost: £135 per person.

Delegates attending: Up to 10 people.

Please email our Training and Development Team on contact@southkentmind.org.uk or call 01303 250090 for further info.
