It’s time to get moving to show your support of mental health services in Kent
With the Royal Jubilee taking place in June South Kent Mind’s raft race will have a regal theme in 2022.
The annual raft race takes place on the canal in Hythe, Kent on the last Saturday in June. The event will have three classes of aquatic craft with self-made rafts, boats and paddleboards.

Rafts: This is a mixed class so both self-build and bring your own boat or inflatable can be used. Maximum crew of six. You need to transport your raft to Hythe and ensure you can take all elements of it home again even if it does not survive the event! OR BORROW A RAFT FROM US – tick ‘borrow raft’ on booking page.
Paddle boats: Use one of our rowing boats but propelled using paddles to help you go faster. We supply boat and paddles. Maximum crew of four. All paddle boats in this class are the same size.
Paddleboarders: Individuals use their own paddleboard equipment to traverse the course in the fastest time.

Top honours: Right Royal Raft Race trophies will be presented to the team that is fastest over the course in each class, the best home-made raft design, as well as the team with the best royal-themed outfits and trophy for best royal-themed spectator(s).
Registration cost: The cost to register a team for either the Rafts and Paddle Boat classes is £50. (Use discount code RaftVIP to receive 50 per cent discount) There is no reduced registration charge if a team has less than the full crew. Individuals in the Paddleboard class pay £10 to register (don’t forget to halve cost using discount code). Click here to book

In addition participants are invited to try and raise £50 in sponsorship using the official South Kent Mind JustGiving page. All sponsorship raised goes to the mental health charity South Kent Mind. A team can have a shared page but this will multiply the target on the page by the number of people in the team.

“South Kent Mind’s Right Royal Raft Race is a great team-building event for businesses and secondary schools. Designing your aquatic creation will test your maths and engineering skills, but you can also join in the fun to help mental health services by crewing one of the boats we supply, or even use a paddleboard. I am keen to hear from businesses who can sponsor one of the classes or royal-themed costume categories.”
